"West-Coast Time"
My love song to the American west.
Why would a life-long New Jerseyan compose a poppy anthem expressing my love for the opposite coast (no offense to my fellow East-Coast people) that I've only known through movies and dreams? Am I desperately reaching way down into my bag of nostalgia, as I now intend to "move west" like my childhood hero Fievel did? All I can say is that I don't fully know where this song blueprint is going yet or why it's been in my head over the last few days on repeat, but it probably has something to do with my love for California and the mystical southwest that has remained with me since my childhood. Listen below for more details on why I chose to share this happy tune today, which is probably as close as I'll ever come to writing a club song like "Gangnam Style."
"West-Coast Time" (v1) Too lost to get out of bed Too caught to keep playing dead Today flows a welcome escape The sunlight puts the heavens in reach (pre-chorus) Don't want to wait for the lies to vacate Don't want to search like an eagle eye That's why I'm on (chorus) West-coast time Living on west-coast time Promise of west-coast time Love to hold west-coast time Turn the heat up (v2) Across the Mississippi Through the Rockies with ease The coastline a few steps away An America bright with beauty and grace
